Here is a collection of high mountains that continually inspire me. Many of these photos were taken during the summer of 2007, as my husband and I tour the National Parks of the western United States.
Mt. Rainier as viewed near the beginning of the Skyline Trail. This is a loop trail about 5 miles long, and is also the route many climbers take as they make their way to the John Muir Base Camp.

Just outside Eugene, Oregon, with a 360 degree view, this hill always has plenty of hikers.
In Fall we hiked up to Patjen Lakes near Santiam Pass, soon after the first snow. There was a few inches of snow on the ground and Mt. Washington was glowing as it came in and out from behind the clouds.

This peak can also be seen from the Santiam Highway.

Two of the Three Sisters, from the Santiam Highway (242) in Oregon.

A beautiful peak. Someday I hope to hike closer to its base.
Wenatchee Lake area, Washington. This peak was viewed from the Twin Lakes Trailhead, along the White River.
Wenatchee Lake area, Washington. This unnamed mountain stands at 5500 ft in elevation and can be seen from a beaver pond along the Twin Lakes Trail.

From a logging road on the way out to Kentucky Falls.
In Lassen Volcanic National Park. This mountain last blew its top in 1915, becoming the first volcano to erupt in modern US history.
Lassen Peak's crater from the inside. The trail up hits Lassen Peak's windy summit at 10,500 ft above sea level.
Mt. St. Helens, 27 years after the 1980 eruption, as seen from the visitor center.
The land of John Muir and Ansel Adams...I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! We chose to escape the city of tourists on Yosemite's valley floor and take a hike to see views many are too lazy to get to.

I love to hike and I love sharing my adventures through pictures. Most of my time is spent exploring the Pacific Northwest, but these past few years I've been able to travel to many of our country's National Parks.
