My husband was usually ahead on this part of our journey around the lake, which took a total of three hours to complete. There was no trail so our path took us over large downed logs, through thick brush, across a swollen creek, and over a lava field.

Diamond Peak reflects in Karen Lake. This hike starts at the top of Willamette Pass (Hwy 58) near Odelle Lake. It was a perfect backpacking trip for me because mountain lakes are my favorite.

Yoran Lake is just beyond Karen Lake, and is accessible either by the separate trail leading to it, or by a short bushwack from the Pacific Crest Trail at Lil's Lake.
