I was born in St Louis in the 1960's and as a child traveled throughout the United States to visit my brother, who was in the Navy, on our summer vacations. This gave me the opportunity to see our beautiful country and it was during this time I received my first all-in-one 35mm camera. I really enjoyed photography and took many photos on our trips. By the time I was a senior in high school I had upgraded my camera a few times to finally my first SLR (a Canon AE-1, which I still have). It was at this time I began to capture family events, landscape, nature, and scenic photos. My passion has always been the nature and landscape photos, over the last 20 plus years I have captured quite a few. Upon graduation, work and eventually family (wouldn't trade my kids for anything) took over leaving little time for photography.
I now call Southeast Missouri home and like living here with my family as it offers great scenery and outdoor fun. This change of life sparked me once again to pick up my camera and start taking photos, but it wasn't until a work comp injury that I truly became serious about photography; specializing in nature and landscape photos on canvas along with the occasional family or senior portrait. I look for unusual or interesting aspect, if it catches my eye, it will be caught on film. Southeast Missouri is my point of concentration; however, the world is my studio as I also capture interesting cloud formations, sunrises, sunsets, and moon shots. I utilize the Gicle'e technique of printing on canvas that gives the photos a most unique appearance. I have never had formal training but have always read photography books, magazines, and articles. My equipment has been upgraded again, this time using digital, and adding scanners, printers, and editing programs to my equipment list.
I love this new journey and am looking forward to what the future holds.
